January 20-February 24, 2021
Wednesdays 7-8 p.m. EST
In this six-week series, we’ll meet live on Zoom for a one-hour yin yoga practice. Participants will also have access to a video recording afterwards. Yin yoga features slow movement and poses that are held for 3-5 minutes with rests in between. The longer holds allow for deeper stretch, affecting the fascia (connective tissue) holding our organs, muscles and joints to improve flexibility, circulation, and release energy. This practice is calming to the mind and body, suitable for all abilities, and a good complement to active yang exercise such as running and HIIT.
Who is this course for?
Anyone who wants to introduce a routine of calming, restful movement and stretching. This practice aligns well with the dark winter season, promoting inner reflection. It also complements active exercise and training.
Do I need to practice yoga regularly or be “flexible” to participate?
No! All abilities are welcome and encouraged to participate. Movements will be offered in different formats and with guidance on modifications and prop usage to ensure comfort and accessibility. I will also provide a list of common household items that can be used to support your practice. During registration and in each week’s feedback, you can identify any questions or concerns you have that can be addressed in the classes.
What can I expect each week?
Live online classes will be held using Zoom on Wednesdays from 7-8 p.m. EST. Each week you will receive a reminder with the link to join the class. Each yoga class will include a gentle warm up and approximately 45 minutes of movement (although individual poses are held for at least 3-5 minutes), a brief meditation, and time for comments or questions. Following the live class, participants will receive an email with a link to access the video recording and with further information on the theme of the practice.
If I can’t attend the live class will there be a recording available?
Yes, if for some reason you miss one of the live classes, a recording will be available to access. Recordings will be accessible until March 1, 2021. I do recommend that you attend live for full benefit of a routine practice and connecting as a community.
Will you or other participants see me during the live classes?
No, participants will not share their video in the live online classes. You will have the opportunity to submit questions or comments both before the live class and in the last minutes of the live class.
What is the course fee?
The course fee is CAD$100 + HST for six weekly live online yoga classes with post-event video recording available. Payment must be confirmed through PayPal for registration to be complete. All fees are in Canadian dollars and are subject to change. All fees are subject to HST.
What is your refund policy?
Registration is non-transferrable. Cancellations will be refunded at 50% of the course fee up to 48 hours before the first online class, after which time refunds will not be offered. Participants agree that failure to attend classes or access online materials, changing their minds about the course, or not experiencing the results they desired, or experiencing any similar circumstances, do not entitle them to a refund.
